Important Information About Jacks
A Jack (Stallion) is a hormone driven breeding animal and must always be handled by a strong, experienced and competent person. Jacks must always be treated with respect and with an understanding that they can be, and sometimes are unpredictable, especially around Jennets. When handling a Jack of any size, safety of both the animal and the owner is paramount and absolute control must be maintained at all times. For this reason Ashington Park has two important policies regarding Jacks. Firstly, all visitors and prospective purchasers should be aware that they will not be allowed to enter the Jack's paddock under any circumstances. Closer inspection will be allowed through the safety of the fence.
Secondly, Ashington Park will NOT sell an entire male (Jack) of any age except to registered studs that have experience in handling Jacks. Please note - Ashington Park does not sell entire males as part of a package, unless the above requirement is met.
One final point;
JACKS ARE NOT PETS AND PURCHASING A JACK AS A PET MAY PLACE YOUR SAFETY AND THAT OF YOUR FAMILY AT SERIOUS RISK. ALL DONKEY SOCIETIES HAVE POLICIES SURROUNDING JACKS AND WE ARE HAPPY TO PROVIDE A COPY ON REQUEST.
Please click the PDF File below for further information about Jacks. This info has been written by The Donkey Society of Victoria. Most breeders will obide by the safety guidelines with owning jacks, but unfortunately there are a few breeders out there that just don't seem to care. Please make yourself aware of the dangers with Jacks - dont put yourself or your family in harms way.
